Lynn Cahoon, Author Guest Post

Today, I'd like to welcome a Crimson Romance sister, Lynn Cahoon!

Welcome Lynn!

 Hi Lille!

Thanks for having me over to your blog. I have to say your cover for Life After Death is amazing!

Thanks Lynn!!

Since your story talks a bit about the afterlife and the big D word, it got me thinking about my writing.

I tend to have at least one missing or dearly departed parent, ex-boyfriend or spouse. In Marriage Not Included, it’s Emma’s dad who was killed while in the Army, leaving Lauren, my heroine, alone with a brand new baby.

In my debut, The Bull Rider’s Brother, its Lizzie’s mom, who’s recently passed. But that book also deals with another type of disappearance for my hero’s mother. Do I mean to deal with the theme of disappearance and death? No, I just want to tell a good story. But with all good stories, there’s a hidden, or not so hidden, pain the characters have to deal with.

I guess I’ve always been more aware of the cycle of life than other kids. My dad passed when I was a year old, his parents followed quickly after. So visiting the graves on Memorial Day was a part of my childhood. Reading A Wrinkle in Time made me wonder about my dad’s absence. Could he be trapped on another planet?

I don’t know that answer, even now.

Let me tell you a story. Once my now Mr. and I were fighting. I thought we were done. The End. Finished. (I guess you get my point.) I needed to go somewhere to clear my head. Since I’d missed Memorial Day earlier that summer, I drove out to our old home town to clear my dad’s grave and put on flowers. While I worked around the stone, I told him about my current situation. The guy, the fight. And all at once, I was surrounded by a feeling I can only describe as a comforting hug.

My boyfriend and I patched things up, and we’re still together, almost fourteen years later – old married folk, even. I truly believe my Dad was telling me things would work out. And they did. Have you had an experience with the other world?

Thanks for being on my blog today Lynn!! And if you'd like to take a look at Lynn Cahoon's newest release, it's available on Amazon.

From the Cover:

Lauren is headed back to school, this time not as a fun loving coed but to achieve her dream of turning the family farm into Idaho’s first Heritage Seed Center. Selling organic produce at the local farmers market, she meets Miles. After an unexpected act of kindness toward her daughter, Lauren agrees to one date. As a VP and heir apparent to HN Seeds, the family business, Miles unknowingly holds the future of Lauren’s farm in his hands. Lauren’s looking for anything but a romance. She’s got too much on her plate to risk the distraction. But he plays the one card Lauren can’t resist, family. Miles needs Lauren and her daughter to feel at home. And Lauren needs Miles and his large extended family more than she knows. But can she forgive the one betrayal that would ruin all of her plans for the future?
