Monday Morning Flash Fiction Challenge, Week 104 (the Tuesday edition)

Well, I've done it again. So wrapped up in what I was doing, I forgot to post our flash fiction image. Oops!

This weeks image is actually a desktop theme, but I liked the image so much... had to use it!

This image fascinates me... the birds appear to be flying away, but also appear to be coming from her hair. It's oddly disturbing. Can't wait to see what comes from this image.

The rules remain the same, 350 words and post a response on Friday.

Ciao!

Desperate Surrender by Hildie McQueen

Publisher: Crescent Moon Press
Pages: 246

(Released: June 1, 2012)

From the Cover:

Wendy O'Sullivan's life drastically changes upon discovering she is not human- and then she is charged with guarding the Key of Peace. To make matters more complicated, she reunites with the Protector she's dreamed of since the day he rescued her from a demon attack.

Kieran Frasier, hasn't loved- much less kissed - a woman in over three hundred years with his heart firmly encased behind thick walls. The fierce immortal defends innocents from powerful demons, but can he defend himself from diminutive Wendy, who manages to get past all his barricades?

Faced with arranged marriages to others and battling demons that will stop at nothing to capture Wendy, will they be forced to surrender their chance at true love for the greater good?

Wendy O'Sullivan wants nothing more than to find love and keep it. She doesn't want to be the savior of her race, the keeper of some key she doesn't desire or need, she doesn't want to be forced into an arranged marriage. What she wants and dreams of is the Protector who saved her from the demons. Should it matter if she's not human? Her heart still breaks the same. She'll go to almost any length to be where her heart wants and needs to be. She doesn't want to desert the family and heritage, but can't love and obligation coincide? Will she survive the demons long enough to find out?

Kieran Frasier hasn't let his heart feel in too many years to remember. Since his failed marriage centuries ago, he's held his heart apart. Kissing is too personal, his needs may have to be met, but it isn't personal if his lips aren't involved. He appears cold and distant, but his blood is boiling hot. If he could only forget the young woman he saved, whose memories he had to wipe away... If he could have a do-over, he would claim what his dreams keep calling for. When he comes in contact if the same young woman once again under attack, he begins to wonder, she is really supposed to be part of his life?

When desire can no longer be denied, Kieran and Wendy come together regardless of Julian's demands or her family's needs. These two were surely meant to be together, or are they?

Desperate Surrender by Hildie McQueen is a paranormal romance to tug at your heart. Wendy is a resilient young heroine who goes to great lengths to prove herself worthy of the love Kieran wants to deny. The only problem is that he's lost his heart without even knowing it. The demons are even more desperate to achieve their desires and release an ancient evil. If they're successful, it would give them the ability to possibly topple the Protectors, taking control of humanity. Kieran has to find a way to have his heart's desire and save himself and his Protector family. And maybe he can with the help of the one person he's been forbidden from having, Wendy.

Desperate Surrender is just that, a surrender to the heart. No matter how hard Kieran wants to deny his heart, he cannot. He'd rather meet his end than give up the thing he thought he'd never have again, love. Wendy's family is trying to force her into an undesired marriage, one where love will never grow. Julian wants the same for Kieran. Neither will bow to the forces trying to control their lives even if it means destruction. Desperate Surrender not only pulls the characters, but the reader too. I found myself routing for Wendy and demanding Kieran (whom I fell in love with in Desperate Betrayal Book 1 of the Protector Series) follow his heart. It brought tears to my eyes more than once, a true tell of an excellent romance.

Five out of five fairy kisses for this reader.

Monday Morning Flash Fiction Challenge, Week 101

Good Wednesday Afternoon!

(I know, very late this week...)

I spent the weekend helping my sister.... she's trying to put my Grandmother's house on the market, Grams lives with my folks now and she won't be able to move back to her own home due to health concerns. Then, yesterday, it was off to Band Camp for my youngest, and I spent the day in Charleston, packing, registering, unloading... and damn, those tenor drums are HUGE and HEAVY!! I don't know how he carries them around on his body, he's as big as a stick!! LOL

But, today is the first time I've sat down for more than a few minutes to be able to post. So, without further excuses... here's this week's challenge!

I love this poe-ish image and I hope everyone else does too!

The rules remain the same 350 words and post a response on Friday!
