Bullet by Laurell K Hamilton

Publisher:  Berkley
Pages:  320 (maybe more)

(Release Date:  June 1, 2010)

Another book to long for....can't wait to see what LKH has in store for Anita this time!

Here's what Laurell said about Bullet in her blog posting (http://blog.laurellkhamilton.org/):

"I’m happy with the book, and it’s certainly got a lot of things in it that you, the fans, have been asking about for awhile. We get to see Monica Vespucci and her son, Matthew, on stage. Yes, the baby she was pregnant with in book six, The Killing Dance. Since that’s in chapter one I don’t feel like I’m giving to much away. We see a lot of Jean-Claude on stage. A lot of Richard on stage and he was more fun to write than he has been in ages. Asher gets some very nice screen time. Micah and Nathaniel get some really good scenes with Anita. Jason gets that visit from J. J. who we last saw in Blood Noir. Even Stephen and Gregory, and Stephen’s live-in girlfriend Vivian get some good scenes. Okay, Gregory gets on stage but Stephen and Vivian has some good scenes. If they were real life actors they’d be happy with the script and the character growth. Yes, we have Damian on stage. Claudia gets to demonstrate that size matters in a fight and she’s got the size. More wererats, werelions, weretigers, and vampires, vampires, vampires. There were a lot of furry and vampy politics for this book."

Well, there you have it folks, straight from Ms. Hamilton's blog, a taste of Bullet.

I'll be adding this one to my wishlist, hoping Ms. Hamilton has once again moved closer to the root of the series, Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Zombie Raiser, kick-ass heroine extraordinaire.

I have one of her books on my shelf. I am not sure what number it is... but when I found out how many they had... I have to say that discouraged me a little. That is a lot of catching up!
But I am glad to see it landed on your wishlist!
Hope all is well hon

Hi Cecile!

Only 18 books (19 with this one) to read, lol! It took me no time at all to catch up with the series, but some of those books are massive!!! Like 700 or 800 pages long. They were never ending!!

And it's a series that needs to be read in order, or you're confused.

((hugs sweetie!))

I need to read Skin Trade, and then I'm ready!

I would like to politely disagree. Hamilton does a lot of repetition in her novels... so reading them in order proves tedious for me (but I'm still doing it for the third time AND part of a competition this time).

You do gain quite a bit reading the whole series BUT I don't think you HAVE to... I mean the back story is very important, but the current story can be understood with out it.

Do be discouraged Cecile! The newer ones are super hot!

I think it's better that I stay away from these, 18 and counting would be a killer on my budget

Hi Mandi!

Don't forget Flirt, it's shorter I think, so it will be a quick read. Flirt is book 18 I believe, but I could be wrong, lol, there are so freaking many of them!

Hi Miranda!

I guess you could read any of them as a stand alone, she does give a lot of background for each book. Not me probably, lol, I'm really anal about reading in order.

But, if you don't read the first few, then you won't know how Jean Claude became the Master of the City or how Anita became involved with him or became his human servant (um, still fighting THAT one). And she throws so many new characters in there and she brings them back in later books. And alllll the wereanimals. I get confused... So, maybe it's just me, LOL!! But I do love the series, well, most of the series (some of the Ardeur stuff was a little over the top at least in my opinion. Seemed gratuitous. What do you think?)

Thanks!!

Hi B!

If you as anal as I am about reading a series in order, then yes, it's a long road to hoe. LOL But, on the plus side, our librarian loves LKH, so all the books are there. I've only had to buy a couple that have gone missing, it seems everyone likes to read LKH here, and sometimes the books don't come back. I've donated the ones I've bought, our little library doesn't have the funds to re-purchase stolen books.

((hugs B))
