Dino Vicelli is a PI in the city that never sleeps, New York City. He's your classic private eye from any noir, with one exception, he's an Italian Greyhound, and he literally makes his living seeking out the scent of crime. When blonde bombshell, Jezebel, a long legged afghan comes into his office, needing his assistance, he can hardly restrain himself. He falls for the damsel in distress, but soon discovers a conspiracy that deals with the strange medical experiments and an even stranger doctor.
Dino Vicelli, Private Eye by Lori Weiner is a little novella that creates a whole where people and dogs live together, sometimes as equals, and sometimes not. Sometimes the prose was a little stilted and maybe in need of a little more editing, but overall, a fun quick read for this first time author. It's the classic noir with the gritty private eye who get in way over his head. As Dino struggles to help the voluptuous Jezebel, he finds himself in a world of crime, evil doers, and murder. It's a fun little read slightly reminiscent of Spencer Quinn and his Chet and Bernie books.
