Have you ever wondered about the origins of Mother's Day? Where it came from? Well, it's actually very interesting.
You see, in the time of the Ancient Egyptians.....
There was a Goddess, the Goddess Isis (the Mother of the Pharaohs), worshiped by many as being the goddess of magic and life, with the ability to bring life to lifelessness. It would seem that the beautiful goddess fell in love with her brother, Osiris, and they married. But her other brother, Seth, was extremely jealous of their love and power, so he hatched a plan to kill Osiris and steal his power. Seth had a magical box built that would fit only Osiris where he captured Osiris and let it be his coffin. Seth threw the coffin in the ocean. Isis went mad with grief and searched for the body of her brother/husband. Upon finding it, she hid in at the mouth of the Nile, but Seth found it while out of a hunting trip and killed it again by dismemberment, cutting the body into 14 pieces and scattering them widely. Again, Isis searches for the body, and again her search is fruitful, finding all the pieces, save one. A crab swallowed Osiris' penis (OMG) and Isis fashioned him a new one of gold and wax, and through her magic, brings Osiris back to life. On the night of his reanimation, they conceived a child, Horus. With the concept, Osiris returns to the dead and becomes the King of the Underworld, but was always watchful and caring for Isis and Horus. But Seth's wrath was mighty, and Isis was forced to hid Horus within the reeds of the Nile. Upon reaching adulthood, Horus confronts and kills Seth and becomes the ruler of Egypt, the first Pharaoh, making Isis mother of all the Pharaohs yet to come.

Cybele is the ancient mother of all, bringing life to the Earth, but Rhea is the Mother of all the Gods and Goddess of Mount Olympus. Rhea was the daughter of Uranus (Father Sky) and Gaia (Mother Earth). Rhea was married to her brother Kronos, and gave birth to the twelve Olympians, including Demeter, Hades, Hera, Hesita, Poseidon, and Zeus. Her brother, Kronos, was very powerful and killed his father to claim his throne and possess Rhea. But, Kronos also feared his children may defeat him in the same way as he had his father, so with each birth, he would goggle up his children. His children remained alive and trapped within his body. With the birth of Zeus, Rhea fed Kronos a stone instead of her infant son, no longer able to stand loss her children to her power hungry brother/husband. Zeus was raised in secret of the isle of Crete and when he reached adulthood, he defeated his father and freed with brothers and sisters. Zeus then became king of the Gods and ruler of Olympus taking Hera as his wife, making Rhea mother of all the mighty Olympians and the children to follow. (OMG, lots of incest in these stories.....)
Each legend reveals the origins of a Mother of life, through magic and love, although apparently it started as an incestuous love, lol. Motherhood has always meant bringing life forth.... And now you know the origins of life and why mothers are worshiped. As they should be, lol.
So...... Now with all this new knowledge......
