Monday Afternoon Flash Fiction Challenge

Happy Monday everyone. I'm being bad and typing this up in my Structure of English class, while the professor attempts at our names. *sighs* I know I should pay attention, but I loath Grammar classes with a passion. I like to consider myself a novice writer, so I should be all over this class like a bee on honey...however....not so much. I think the majority of writers out there will agree with me.

Anyways, here is this week's challenge.

This is something rather different from past pictures shared in this challenge. I randomly found while browsing through Wild, Wild West pictures. Who are these men on the hill? Are they women perhaps? Mhmmm. Cowboys, Indians, just some rogues, or idiots lost in the desert. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

I shall share my story from last week:

Lust is a Sin: Tale of Francine
by: Carole Rae

He haunted her dreams. She could not get the blasted man from her head. However...it was fruitless to allow herself to think on him even for a second for the man was married. The man belonged to another. The man belonged to her sister, Mary. Francine loved her sister more then anything in the world and that was why she tried to keep the blasted man from her head. However, the snake kept slithering in. She let out a sigh and flopped onto the settee and threw her feet up onto the footstool that was blue and did not match anything else in her bedroom.

She had to leave that party.

It killed her to see them dancing and making jolly upon the dance floor. Yes, this was a celebration of HER birthday this beautiful spring night, but she could find no joy. Mary owned the heart of the man she wanted. The man she lusted over, but tried oh so hard not to. Francine let out another sigh and closed her eyes. Perhaps she just needed to close her eyes and it would make the wine stop making her head spin. Whenever she drank the bubbly goodness, her jealousy and lust became as bright as the August sun.

It didn't help. All she kept envisioning was herself dancing with her Edward...Mary's Edward, she reminded herself, he is not yours.

About an hour drifted along while she tried to keep her mind blank. She must have drifted off for she snapped awake and fell back into consciousness from a knock on the door. After gaining back her footing in the consciousness, she asked, “Who is it?”

“It's Edward.” A chill ran up her spin.

“Oh...um....yes?” She stuttered and began adjusting her bodice and hair.

“Mary wanted me to check on you for you have been gone an hour or so my dear.”

“Oh...well...I am afraid I drank too much wine and so I had to escape for a moment for my head was hurting.” Not an entire lie.

“I see. Are you feeling better?”

Francine bit her lip. The wine was still strong in her veins, so she replied with a sigh, “Oh, no I am not. I sat upon my settee and I'm feeling sick, but I can not get myself up. I really would like to go to bed.”

After a seconds thought, Edward asked, “Would you like my help?”

A cat's smile played on her lips, but kept with the same tone of helplessness, “If it isn't too much hassle for you, Edward.”

“No hassle at all, Francine.” He replied gallantly. She nearly swooned just from the way he said her name.

“Then do come in, please.” She adjusted her bodice, she off quite a bit of skin. It made her look alluring and in needing of a strong man.

The door quickly opened and Edward walked in. Without even taking a second glance at Francine's breasts, he strode over too her. With a smile of pure friendliness, he lifted her up, “My poor, dear sister. No more wine at the next function.” He chuckled.

“Mhmmm, perhaps not.” She was on cloud 9. Her whole body was pretty much pressed up against his. She wanted him. She would have him.

Softly, as if putting a babe to bed, he laid her down and put the blanket over her, “Sleep tight, dearest sister, for you will have a raging headache in the morning.”

Francine sighed, “Before you go...could you adjust my pillow?”

Edward nodded, “Of course.” He reached above her and shimmed the pillow down a little bit and made sure it was nicely supporting her head. Before he could stand straight back up, Francine wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down to her lips. Her greedy lips latched themselves to his always smiling, red lips.

She was sure her heart would explode.

He quickly yanked her arms off of him and pulled away as if Francine were the Devil herself. He grimaced and wiped her taste away and yelled, “What the bloody Hell, Francine.”

She crawled out of bed and tried to walk over to him with much sexiness as should could, but she was taken over by the wine. One of her creamy breasts was nearly spilled over her bodice. With a chuckle she replied, “I want you Edward...you want me. Mary doesn't have to know.”

“This is not you, Francine. You are drunk and out of your mind! I'm leaving and you better go back to bed and sleep this off.” He roared.

Ignoring him, she tried to latch herself back onto him, but he dodged her and ran for the door. She tried to go after him, but she tripped over her Tiger rug and crashed to ground. Tears from the wine and being denied from the man she wanted came spilling forth.

The End.

Monday Morning Flash Fiction Challenge

A weekly meme created by Dottie. Every Monday we shared a picture and on Friday you post a tale or story to go along with the picture. 350 words at minimum.

Happy early Monday you guys. I'm sitting here an anxious mess waiting for Steve (my mechanic) to finish looking at my car and call me. There is something wrong with my car and I'm dying waiting. It doesn't help that I'm a worry-wart and I am impatient. Gah. At least they invented the internet for people like me to waste time and try to keep my mind off of my car.

Anwyays, how are you guys doing?

Here is the picture for the week:

I found this painting and it was painted by Alfredo Dagli Orti.

Since I'm bored and have nothing else to do, I'll share my FFF from Friday. ^.^

Emotions
by: Carole Rae

Screaming your name, I removed my heels and stumbled up the slippery stones in search for you. The moors rushed in front of me, but all the love I had for the moors vanished because I could not find you. Where are you? Where are you my love? I set my lamp down and looked up towards the opening sky and I heard your voice. I called your name again, but your voice stopped. HER voice, or what I think would be her voice, took place. She laughed and she whispered among the wind, “His heart belongs with me.”

Tears began streaming down my face and fell onto the already wet stones, “No. He hates you. I will NOT let you take him away from me.”

She laughed and laughed, “He will be mine again.”

“I WILL NOT LET YOU WIN!” I yelled back.

“YOU FOOL! YOU DAMNED FOOL? DO YOU NOT SEE? DO YOU NOT HEAR HIM WHISPER MY NAME IN THE DARK! HE HAS NEVER EVEN SAID I LOVE YOU YET!” The wind blew and I pushed down dress and glared at the light.

I winced, but I still declared,“I WILL WIN! HE WILL LOVE ME!”

The wind blew and whistled louder then anything I've ever heard.

I snapped awake. Sweating was dripping down my face and I was shaking. I sat there on the couch a moment before I realized where the loud whistling was coming from. My tea was going off. I sighed and looked down at my trembling hands. What none sense that dream was. However...I could still feel the lingering jealousy that heated my blood. What if my dream was right? What if he still loved that bitch? That whore? I had never felt the sting of jealousy and despair before.

I pulled myself from the couch and went over to the kitchen and grabbed myself a cup of tea, before sitting down back on the couch. I sighed and took a sip. With a sigh, I set down my tea and grabbed my writing pad. I began writing...writing always relieved my emotions and removed them from my body.

Jealousy
Just outrageous of me to compare myself to her.
Everyone says that she is a bitch and a whore
A fact is a fact, but that doesn't mean you still don't
Love her
Or wish I was her.
Usually I don't care, but I can't stop thinking about it.
So it is true you are with me...for now.
You may think me nuts, but if she wanted you back badly enough she will....she will.

I slammed the pen down as I finished writing these words. Rage, menace, and most of all...longing burned through my veins. I stared out the window and took a deep breath. It was not my greatest work, but I could feel the emotions slowly draining. Thank God.

My phone rang and I knew it was him. I picked up, “Hey.”

“Hey Rebecca.” Whispered his velvety voice.

“Whats up?”

There was a moment of silence and then he replied, “Guess who showed up at my place earlier?”

“She did...didn't she?” I could feel the emotions spilling back into my veins. That whore was going to get it.

“Yeah,” He laughed, “She was all dolled up and was trying to seduce me. I just slammed the door in her face.”

That should have contented me, but my veins was running with every bad emotion, “You should have just fucked her, Jack. I know you still love her.”

“What? What are you talking about?”

“C'mon. We've only been dating four months and you still love her. She wants you back. You should have taken that ship when it came.”

“I can't.”

“Why?”

“Because....because I love you Rebecca.”

My heart stopped a moment, “Oh, Jack. I love you too.”

I could hear the smile in his voice, “Thank God. I was terrified you wouldn't say it back.”

“I've loved you since I met you, Jack.”

“Same here.”

Carole's Friday Flash Fiction

Ahhhhhhhhh, I haven't written a FFF in a while. However, I must pat myself on the back though...I have been doing a lot of writing lately. hahaha. But with this piece went in a COMPLETELY different direction then I imagined. 0.0 however....it happened. Hahaha. Enjoy!

Sweet Goodbyes -  An Atlantis Tale of Woe
by: Carole Rae

"Oh my sweet, my love. I will love you to the end of time." He whispered as he held me tightly. Though the world was crashing around us I found an odd sense of comfort in his arms.

A single tear fell down my cheek as I whispered, "I love you to Herlio and I will always love you. I wish we could have spent eternity with you but at least I had this small of time with you."

Blood covered the ground and screaming filled the air around us. I followed him to this battle that would save our people. I wanted to help fight, even though it was hopeless and we were doomed from the start. These creatures...were merciless and not from this world. They far surpass us in weapons and technology and we are the superior ones on this Earth. We aided many of the humans build their pyramids and build their Great Wall and helped move their stones to worship to their imaginary god. We broke our isolation to aid the world, for we saw the poverty and the instability and we wanted to help. What cruel fate was this? We decide to go against our nature and help others and we are rewarded with this? Other beings deciding to remove us for we are "ruining the natural order of things"?

I winced as I felt more blood pour from my stomach to my hand. My sight turned hazy and I closed them and removed my hands from my gut and I hugged his arm. This man was my light and my savior and though I only knew him for a year I felt an undying love for him.

I felt his tear drop onto my head. Or was it a rain drop? Rain seemed a very suitable way to end Atlantis and its sad pathetic inhabitants. A voice rumbled, "Destroy everything! Destroy and wipe these unworthy elves from the face of the Earth!"

The land rumbled from underneath us and Herlio hugged me tighter, "Alia please don't leave me yet. Perhaps we can flee for they plan on drowning us out. Perhaps if we hurry we can board one of the hovers and go to North."

"No. No...there is no hope for me," I groaned, "you should go. Leave me...you can live."

"Never...I will never leave you in the end of everything. I can not live forever without you." He hugged me tighter and I felt my world slipping from my finger tips.

"My love...I'm so tired...I-I-I can't stay awake." I moaned as I tried to hold on to consciousness.

Herlio sniffed, "I will soon join you. Sleep Alia...sleep and I will join you in that slumber soon."

"Okay...good bye my love. Good bye Herlio." I whispered.

I felt another tear drop or rain drop touch my cheek. Herlio began to softly sing a lullabye I so loved. I wanted to sing this to our child, if we were ever blessed to have one. However, the cruel beings destroyed all the dreams I had and the dreams of my people. We wanted to spread knowledge and spread love and kindness and technology.  I let my mind stray and imagine that my dreams did come true. I imagined the life I wanted with Herlio. I sighed and a smile creeped on my face, "I love you Herlio." The world then slipped from me and I was gone....

Carole's Friday Flash Fiction: The Red, Red Rose

Happy Friday everyone! Don't be shocked, but I actually have a FFF this week. Huzzah! I'm so proud of this piece...its a little on the lengthy side, but I adore it! Be warned...there is quite a twist at the end. MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The Red, Red Rose
by: Carole Rae

The years trickled past like rain drops, but it never stopped her from coming. It never stopped her from planting the roses he so loved. Though the blistering, desert sun withered the roses to dust she still squandered her money and time to plant the red, red roses he so loved.

The years trickled past like rain drops, but still she came this year. Her hair was now streaked with gray and it was harder for her to pull herself out of the carriage that took her to this spot. Once upon a time ago she was able to ride her horse to this dusty spot. Like natural, her beloved horse passed and time has withered her bones.

Stepping out of the carriage, she looked up at the dark sky. This was an odd occurrence for it seemed rain was coming. Once she was out of the carriage, she grabbed her lacy and delicate parasol. Though it would barely protect her from becoming wet, it was a comfort for her. Though most of everyone knew of her odd travels to this spot in the desert of the West and of why she came to this spot every year on the day, she was still embarrassed of her obsession of planting the red, red roses. Taking a deep inhale, she began to walk to the spot. She always made sure that she had to walk the last few feet to the spot for it made her guilt ease its pull on her heart for a while.

The moment she reached the spot, she looked down and tears began to form. She hugged the pot of roses to her chest. The little thorns cut right through her skin and little drops of blood fell down into her bodice. Surely her white chemise was now ruined, but that concern was millions of leagues away from her mind. Without aid, she slowly knelt down. Quickly, she removed her white gloves and began scrapping at the arduous and dust-covered ground. With the pain of the digging, her tears evaporated. This was normal...pain always made the heart-ache and guilt disappear as the stars fade when the sun comes across the sky.

Once the hole was dug, she gently placed the red, red roses into the ground. She filled in the remaining of the hole with soil. She rubbed her blood and dirt covered hands onto her dress. Now that the pain of digging had ended, tears welled up in her eyes. A rain drop fell onto her face and mixed with the tear. Quickly, she lifted her parasol for the rain was surely on its way. As if stroking a newborn's head, she smoothed one of the red, red petals out and a sob escaped her lips, “I...am...so....sorry, Miles. I wish...I wish I could take it back. Oh God.”

She allowed herself a few moments of tears and for the guilt to eat at her soul.

A few moments....that was all.

Taking a heavy inhale, she forced the monster to return into its cage. If she allowed the guilt to run free for too long, she would lose her sanity forever. Wiping away the tears, she finally had herself in her infamous composure and self-control. The ever present smile returned to her lips and she slowly, but surely stood. Looking out into the distance she took in the scenery. As was normal. However, a dark figure caught her eye. With widening eyes she froze.

The dark figure knowing that it had been spotted, walked towards her. She could not move. Fear penetrated her heart.

After what seemed an eon, the figure stepped out of the fog and revealed its self to her. Her eyes went wide, “Miles....no....nooooo. It can't be! I....I....killed you twenty years ago! How...how is this possible?”

The man, Miles to be assumed, smirked at her, “Oh dear Cynthia. You really think you killed me? Ha.”

“But...oh dear god.” She covered her mouth and sobbed into her hands when she noticed the scar across his throat. She had done that. She had sliced his throat as if cutting into a piece of bread.

His eyes sparkled, “You did nearly have me, my dear.”

“Miles....I'm so sorry. They...they made me! You know I loved you, but it was either your life or my life and our unborn child's life.” Her control evaporated and tears began rolling down her cheek.

With slow steps, he walked towards her and with his thumb ever so slightly wiped away some of the flowing tears that trailed down her cheeks. Miles replied, “I know you are sweeting, but they lied. It was a test to see how much you loved me. Yes, these roses are lovely and sentimental, but you failed the test those many moons ago.”

“Miles...I--” Before she could stammer out another word, blood oozed from her lips. He removed his hand from her face and pulled out the knife he had stabbed into her gut. The place were his child had once been.

With a dark smile, “We are even my dearest Cynthia....but I doubt you'll survive that. Until our next life together.” Turning on his heels, he disappeared in the fog.

She fell to the ground holding her gut. Her body was so in shock all she could do was look at the red, red roses he so loved and think on how the years had trickled past like rain drops. Her world then went black........

THE END

Friday Flash Fiction

I wasn't sure whether or not to post this, but I am even though this FFF isn't my best work due to my brain being a little fried from midterms and lack of sleep. Ha. I hope you enjoy though!

The Goddess of Halloween
by: Carole Rae

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Slamming her foot down, she finally killed the annoying rat that had been scampering along the floor. She lightly smiled and propped her head on her fist and closed her eyes. Her time has ended and now she will be in this prison for 364 days.

“Would you like more tea my dear?” One of the crows asked.

She shrugged, “I'm fine thank you.” Letting a huge yawn shake her whole body, she finished off her tea and set it to the side.

There was a light tap and the old door creaked open. She didn't have to open her eyes to know who it was, “What the Hell do you want, Clause?”

Clause smiled and even though he spoke quietly, his voice still boomed and made the dark room seem alive, “I just brought you some comfy clothes and some food my dear Goddess of Halloween. ”

Opening her eyes, she gazed at Clause and her heart stopped. The rumors of Clause being fat was ludicrously wrong. He was a God. Literally and figuratively. His bright bleach blonde hair made his ice colored eyes sparkle. Clause's body was the opposite of jolly, it was sensational. Pretending to not notice how attractive he was, she hissed, “Why must I be chained in here like some damn animal? Who died and made Him God?”

Clause calmly set her things down and sat across from her. She sucked in her breath when his cool eyes settled on hers, “He created us and that includes you. Besides, you know exactly why you are locked up.”

“Ooooh. But I didn't mean to nearly kill that freakin' rabbit. We had a fight and....GAH! Why am I explaining myself to Santa. Hell.” She looked away and kicked away the crows.

“I know....Rabbit had it coming, but you nearly killed him. Just think though...three more years and then you are free. Also every Halloween He lets you have a day of freedom.”

She heaved a sigh “I suppose, but I'm just sooooo lonely,” She grinned as she noticed Clause's ice eyes glazing over her shapely and sexy figure, “Perhaps we could, well, entertain each other.”

Clause lifted an eyebrow, but said nothing. The tick, tocks of the old clocked seemed to go on for an eternity while they looked at each other. She uncrossed her long legs and stood. As if she had forever, she made her way to Clause's lap. With careful and tender movements, she straddled him and wrapped her pale arms around his neck. He, likewise, slowly wrapped his arms around her waist. Before her lips could scrape his, Clause tried to push her away, but she would not be moved, “Relax and enjoy Halloween my dear Santa Clause.”

The end.
